Baule Diviner Figure
Collected by Dr Hans Himmelheber during his 1933 or 1934-35 trip in Ivory Coast, a 19th century diviner figure representing a seated juvenile man. Acquired from the precedent by Julius Konietzko (1886-1952) in 1936 (copy of the ledgers and photo 4) ; Lore Kegel & Boris Kegel-Konietzko (photo 3, figure above him) ; Alexander Dorn, 2020.

Baule figure by the Master of Totokro
The Master of Totokro, first described by Susan Vogel, then by Ezio Bassani, is know to this day to have produced 7 masks, 6 spirit husband figures (blolo bian) and 1 monkey figure.
Among the earliest pieces, a mask presented in 1911 in the Museum of Budapest, a mask owned by Charles Ratton, the figure acquired by the cleveland Museum of Art in 1931 and the series of works at the Musée des beaux arts d'Agen. Other works include ownership by Franco Monti, Lance Entwistle or Bernard de Grunne.

Bamana Figure by the Master of Bamako
A classic Bamana jo nyéléni figure from a famous artist active in the region of Bamako before 1930.
Earliest collected example by F-H Lem in 1934-35 (now in the collection of Richard H; Scheller) Other works from the same artist in the Met museum (acquired from Carlebach) and in notable public and private collections.

Bangwa Mask by the Master of Bamessi
The Master of Bamessi carries his name from the first Ngon mask from this artist collected in the village of Bamessi in the Tikar region of the Cameroon Grasslands, in 1932, by Missionary Paul Gebauer and conserved at the Portand Museum of Art (photo 1). Another mask from this artist identified by Ezio Bassani is in the collection of the City of Milan (photo 2)
