Traveling Pipe Furnaces

Bamum or Bamileke or Bekom people, Cameroon Grasslands

First half of the 20th Century

This is a small collection of "traveling pipe" furnaces. Contrary to the Royal pipe furnaces presented here, these were used to actually smoke.

While the Royal status ones are gigantic and anthropomorphic, these traveling pipes are small and practical. But the amont of detail and quality of clay work is equally satisfying.

I date these from the first half of the 20th Century. But it could be much older.

H: 5 to 7 cm  (2 to 2 3/4 inches)

Price for the collection: 500 Euros enquiry
